Keep the recording and location together
Repeated backups or an inspection recommendation need a clear explanation of which line was assessed. Ask for the recording, distance reference, accessible endpoints and explanation of the finding. A camera image without its location does not define where excavation or another repair belongs.
Define private and public responsibility
The responsible wastewater authority and property owner may have different duties along the drainage path. Confirm the actual address, lateral location and service boundary. Do not authorize work on a public asset or assume a city program covers a private repair without confirmation from the authority.
Compare methods on the same problem
Ask what pipe condition, access and connections support the proposed method. Excavation, localized repair and rehabilitation have different limitations; availability of a technique does not establish suitability. Require a scope that identifies the affected segment, testing and restoration.
Include the site work
Access, buried utilities, landscaping, pavement and permits can change the scope. Confirm who handles utility locating and inspections, what surfaces will be restored and what exclusions remain. Ask whether the business performs the specific line work before scheduling; coverage guidance is not method approval.
Before calling, distinguish one-fixture symptoms from a shared drainage problem and describe what you observed.
Questions to ask about sewer-line inspection & repair planning
- Where is the documented defect?
- Which segment and connections are included?
- Who handles locating, approvals and restoration?
Does the quote include everything?
Ask about assessment charges, the proposed remedy, parts, testing and work excluded from the scope. Availability and charges depend on the independent business and actual property. Compare the supplied scopes and exclusions before choosing.
