Use the village’s entry-point distinctions for basement water
Riverlea’s resident FAQ distinguishes floor-drain sewer backup, stormwater entering through walls and sump-pit water. It also explains that a lift station serves the village’s lower portion. These are useful assessment questions, not proof of the cause at a particular home.

Describe where the water appears before choosing a trade
Note whether water rises from a floor drain, enters at a wall or comes from a sump pit. The village guidance treats these differently; do not assume a sewer-clearing visit will resolve foundation drainage or a failed sump.
Report suspected public-system trouble
Use the village’s official resident guidance when a public sewer or water issue is suspected. Do not flush wipes or other unsuitable items into the system; a household backup still requires an assessment of its actual location.
Confirm county plumbing review for the proposed work
Riverlea’s FAQ directs plumbing permit questions to Franklin County Public Health. Describe the exact repair or alteration and confirm applicable approvals, inspection responsibility and any exterior village review before work starts.
Prepare the property and repair details
State Riverlea, the full address and the fixture or equipment involved. Describe whether water is still escaping, whether one or several fixtures are affected and any safe isolation already performed. If you are unsure of the source, say so rather than repeating an assumed diagnosis.
- Explain entry, parking and any building-access restrictions.
- Identify the person who may authorize repairs.
- Have prior inspection notes or equipment photographs available.
Arrange the right assessment
Call with your full address and ask whether the business handles your fixture or equipment. Confirm the visit charge and who can authorize repairs in a shared building.
